Privacy Policy for Beanly
Last updated: July 2026
Beanly ("we," "our," or "the app") is a personal finance and double-entry bookkeeping application. This Privacy Policy explains what information Beanly collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
The short version
Beanly is built to keep your financial data on your own device. We never ask for your bank login, and we never connect to your bank or financial institutions automatically. You enter your own account balances and transactions, and that information stays stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google (optional):
We collect your name, email address, and profile photo, solely to identify your account. This is identity verification only — we do not use this information for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties.
You are not required to sign in. Beanly can be used entirely as a guest, with no account at all.
Financial data you enter:
Account names, balances, transaction records, and categories you create are stored locally on your device. Beanly does not transmit this data to our servers, because we do not operate a server that stores your financial information. We never request or store bank account credentials.
Backup data (optional, when available):
If you choose to back up your data to Google Drive, that backup is stored in your own personal Google Drive account, under your control, using Google's standard Drive storage. We do not have access to your backup files.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect: bank account numbers, bank login credentials, your physical location, contacts, photos (other than the profile photo provided by Google Sign-In), or browsing activity outside the app.
How we use information
- To identify your account if you choose to sign in with Google
- To personalize your experience within the app (e.g., displaying your name)
- We do not use your information for advertising, and Beanly does not display ads
- We do not sell or share your personal or financial information with third parties
Data storage and security
Your financial data (accounts, transactions, balances) is stored locally on your device using standard on-device storage. It is not transmitted to or stored on any server we control. If you enable Google Drive backup, that data is encrypted and stored using Google's own security infrastructure for your personal Drive account.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: You can permanently delete all app data at any time via Settings → Reset App Data within the app.
- Sign out: You can sign out of Google at any time without losing your locally stored financial data.
- No account required: You can use Beanly as a guest without ever providing personal information.
Children's privacy
Beanly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this same URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
